Case Study: TryMyPost - Building a Tool for Ourselves
How we created TryMyPost from a concrete personal need: previewing our social content before publishing. A project born from necessity, not ambition.
TryMyPost wasn't born with the goal of becoming the next big SaaS. It was born because we needed it. As content creators and developers, we simply wanted to see how our social posts looked before publishing, without guessing or relying on the inaccurate native previews of platforms.
The Real Problem
After yet another frustration, we decided: let's build it ourselves.
The Minimal Solution
TryMyPost allows you to upload an image, write the caption, and see in real-time how the post will appear on Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. No registration required in the first version, no complexity.
Organic Evolution
From there, we added some requested features:
• Ability to save drafts
• Support for more social platforms
• Improvements in simulation accuracy
There was no strategic growth plan. Just iterations based on real feedback from people who actually used the product.
What We Learned
Simplicity wins: Complex features aren't needed if the core value is clear and well-executed.
Continuous iteration: Every feedback received is an opportunity to improve the product.
Not everything needs to scale: It's okay to build useful tools even if they don't become million-user unicorns.
Current State
We haven't monetized yet nor pursued aggressive growth. For now it remains what it was at the beginning: a tool born from our need, shared with those who might find it useful.
Conclusione
Not all projects need to become multimillion-dollar startups. Sometimes success is simply solving a problem you have, doing it well, and sharing it. TryMyPost reminds us that the best starting point for building something is your own direct experience, not vanity metrics.
